Preparatory Course for Admission to Singapore Government School (Aeis/S-Aeis) is designed to prepare international students who wish to join Singapore government primary and secondary schools. The aeis consists of a centralised test on english and math that will assess the applicant's english literacy, numeracy and reasoning abilities and it is conducted by Moe around end of Sept. International student missed or failed the Aeis Test may sit for Supplementary Admission Exercise for International students ( S-AEIS ) in end of Feb in each year.
The AEIS centralised test for each level will comprise English and Mathematics and will assess the applicants’ English literacy, numeracy and reasoning ability.
For multiple-choice questions, applicants are required to use a pencil to shade the answers on the Optical Answer Sheet (OAS). The OAS will be issued to applicants together with the test papers. Please click on the image below for a sample of the OAS and instructions on the use of the OAS.
The AEIS Primary 2/3 English test comprises 34 multiple-choice questions on comprehension and language use. Applicants will be given 1 hour to complete.

The AEIS Primary 2/3 Mathematics test comprises two parts. Applicants will be given 30 minutes to complete Part 1 and 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete Part 2. The use of calculators is not allowed.

Admission is not guaranteed, and is subject to the applicant’s performance in the test. If successful, placement will take into consideration the available vacancies and the applicant’s declared Singapore residential area where possible. In this regard, applicants are to carefully consider and indicate their intended residential area.
There will be no school choice and no release of test results under the AEIS. School transfer requests will not be entertained.
All applicants, including those who are unsuccessful, will be able to view the AEIS outcomes online on the following dates (tentative):

Successful AEIS applicants should prepare themselves in advance for a new school environment where English is the language of classroom instruction, and to familiarise themselves with the relevant curriculum for their level.
The AEIS seeks to ensure that international students admitted to our mainstream schools are able to cope with the requirements of the Singapore education and curriculum. Applicants will need to be successful in the AEIS to be eligible for school admission.
Unsuccessful applicants may re-apply to take the next AEIS or S-AEIS at the same or higher level, subject to meeting the permissible age-ranges for the level. Alternatively, they may wish to consider education in other school systems.
MOE will not consider any appeal requests from unsuccessful applicants.
The AEIS IS allows applicants to retrieve their AEIS outcome from a computer with internet connection.

All successful applicants are to report to their offered schools during the following periods. If they are unable to, they should contact the schools to make alternative arrangements.
